Ankle Sprain

An ankle sprain is something that many of us have experimented at some point in our life. A bad step can lead to an ankle sprain, as well as just loosing equilibrium while walking, or landing after a jump. . The most common damage sustained in a sprained ankle is to the anterior talofibular ligament. If the sprain is severe there might also be damage to the calcaneofibular ligament.

It is always good to be as aware of our pain as possible. Sometimes the stressing condition of the pain won’t let us think straight, but it is necessary to determine whether it is about an ankle sprain or a broken bone. When a sprain occurs, blood vessels will leak fluid into the tissue that surrounds the joint. Warmth and redness are seen as blood flow is increased. Also present is a decreased ability to move the joint, and difficulty using the affected leg.

On the other side, a broken bone will feel different, and from the beginning, it will definitely sound different. If an ankle sprain does not heal properly, the joint may become unstable and may develop chronic pain, which is something you don’t want. . Receiving proper treatment and performing exercises that promote ankle function is important to strengthen the ankle and prevent further injury. If you ever suffer from this kind of injury, do not expect to return to sports quickly as it will take some time to heal and some effort to rehabilitate.
